“ The Meetup went on a bit too long; the American Design Club guys didn't have much to show or to talk about. (They're young guys, just starting out.)
Maxwell kept the thing moving along, and his comments gave structure to the event.
In the future I'd like to see more design work on the screen. AT online is almost too generous in its coverage of design possibilities. Offline, it's a different story. ”
“ As an industry professional going for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect... I found the crowd tended to be people who like design and friends of the panel, but no real working designers or retailers. I think the premise for the meeting is great, and maybe I hit it on an off night, but it didn't really feel like a worthwhile experience. I attended with two friends who are in the retail side of the trade from high end showrooms that felt similarly tp me unfortunately... ”
“ Although I fully support the efforts of the American Design Club, their particular designs were not appealing to my personal taste. Not much seemed particularly useful in making a home inviting and comfortable. Most of the designs didn't seem practical enough to be used in the average person's home environment. ”
“ I love this entire concept. Who doesn't need a little AT from time to time? We all live in homes we'd like to improve on, but we're not all designers. For a guy who's not the club type, it has me not only wanting to participate it keeps me coming back.
I love the "guinea pig" of the day project, of figuring out new layouts for other peoples spaces. No one's ever offended by it. And Max is a great speaker and moderator, and he keeps it interesting light and fun. AT is a brilliant concept, and it brings together a myriad of professionals in that and related fields. ”
“ It was really interesting listening to the young designers - their ideas and projects and how they have organised their businesses.
.
Maxwell was excellent in keeping the meeting moving forward - especially with the person who needed help with her apartment shared space.
Am looking forward to the next meeting with Johnathan Adler. ”
“ Basically I really like this meet up event, but this month was not good because of the guest. Their idea and products was still colleague student.
One guy said “I design what I want to do" this idea is not for "Product designer, Furniture designer". I think designer, especially furniture designer have to think about end users and function. And also another guy said “European design is really great" What? Do they know why their design creates clean and simple shape? Because Designer knows function of the product and they think about end user to create a new product, and then they can eliminate wasted line.
I hope "The American Design Club" will be realized what they need more for their future products. ”
